Workshops

Groupe Harmonie offers workshops in various community organizations, retirement homes and other places where we meet seniors likely to have addiction difficulties. During these workshops, we present a general topic related to substance use and aging. We aim to support participants’ input by asking questions of the audience to create a climate of dialogue. We solicit participation through true-or-false quizzes, clinical vignettes, multiple-choice questions or open-ended questions.

Our workshops are peer-to-peer discussions led by two professionals. They adopt a participatory approach where information is presented on a given theme, encouraging the audience to contribute and exchange ideas on the subject. Individual sessions are not a prerequisite for participation. Our professionals are committed to creating a climate of respect and caring during the workshops. We are very flexible when it comes to workshop topics. We offer topics such as:

  • Myths and misconceptions about substance abuse among seniors (parts 1 and 2),
  • Attachment to psychoactive substances in geriatric addiction,
  • Grieving and geriatric addiction
  • Caregiving in geriatric addiction,
  • Harm reduction consumer practices,
  • Drugs and anxiety,
  • And many other workshops.

We suggest a voluntary contribution or donation for our workshops. These funds will contribute to the development of Groupe Harmonie and its mission.
